THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND FRANCIS KING CAREY SCHOOL OF LAW (Maryland Carey Law) invites applications for two tenure-track faculty position to begin July 1, 2023. For these positions, we will consider both entry-level and junior-lateral candidates in all fields with demonstrated potential for outstanding teaching and original scholarship. We are particularly interested in candidates who will teach first-year and upper-level core courses. Maryland Carey Law also invites applications for a newly endowed tenured or tenure-track faculty position in consumer law to begin July 1, 2023. For this position, we will consider junior- and senior-lateral candidates and experienced practitioners with demonstrated potential for outstanding teaching and original scholarship. We are seeking a candidate who exhibits national leadership and distinction in consumer law and who has prior experience representing consumers and publishing scholarly articles concerning the interests of consumers in legal matters. In addition, Maryland Carey Law invites applications for a newly endowed professorship (tenured or tenure-track faculty position) to direct the new Miller Center for Democracy and the Law honoring the life and work of the late President of the Maryland Senate, Thomas V. Mike Miller Jr. The position will begin July 1, 2023. For this position, we will consider junior- and senior-lateral candidates and experienced practitioners with demonstrated potential for outstanding clinical teaching and original scholarship. The successful candidate will direct the new Miller Center for Democracy and the Law, develop, and teach a new government and legislative clinic, and oversee other experiential learning, student fellowship, and research initiatives of the Center. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of and experience with the theory and practice of democratic institutions and public policy issues at state and local levels, including legislative processes, voting rights, election law and other issues central to democracy and the law.
