    UCLA SCHOOL OF LAW seeks a Clinical Instructor and Deputy Director (Deputy Director) with sustained experience in the practice of reproductive rights law and policy to join the for the Center for Reproductive Health, Law and Policy’s senior management team. The Center will generate innovative ideas at the intersection of reproductive health and rights scholarship and practice; serve as a hub for transforming those ideas into meaningful changes in policy at the local, state, and national levels; and empower students with unique opportunities for experiential learning through work with academics, practitioners, policymakers, and activists.

    The Deputy Director will be responsible for a broad range of academic and administrative functions in the Center, with a primary focus on teaching experiential courses affiliated with the Center, creating other non-curricular opportunities for UCLA students and alumni, participating in research and advocacy on reproductive health law and policy issues, designing and executing Center conferences and convenings, and an array of other programmatic, administrative, and teaching engagements. The Deputy Director will also support the Executive Director more generally, including in marketing, fundraising and grant activities.

    In collaboration with and at the direction of the Center’s Executive Director and the School of Law’s Assistant Dean of Experiential Learning, the Deputy Director will serve as the primary clinical instructor for the Reproductive Health, Law and Policy Clinic; mentor and supervise the Center’s law teaching fellow(s); offer effective clinical teaching and supervision in class and in the field, including through command of the subject matter, ability to organize and present material and ability to awaken students’ interest, curiosity, creativity and achievement; and provide effective and timely feedback on student work; foster relationships with organizations and communities working on reproductive health, law and policy – locally, regionally, and nationally; and serve as mentor to students interested in reproductive health law and policy, including providing support and guidance with respect to the student’s role in the clinical or experiential course and in the profession.

    The minimum requirements for this position include an excellent academic record; a J.D. or other terminal degree from a U.S. school; membership in the California Bar or a willingness to sit for the California bar examination; significant (approximately 7-12 years) experience practicing reproductive rights law and/or working on reproductive rights policy; experience closely supervising or teaching law students; and demonstrated management, administrative, and organizational skills. There is a strong preference for candidates with clinical teaching experience. Established ties with local and national movement organizations are advantages.     FORDHAM UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW is hiring for a Clinical Faculty Position to help create a New Civil Clinic.

    Fordham University School of Law invites applications for a full-time tenure, tenure-track, or long-term contract clinical faculty position.  The faculty member will help create a new civil clinic assisting low income/underrepresented individuals and communities.  The faculty member will join a vibrant group of more than 15 full-time clinicians who teach, practice, and lead.  We welcome interest from both experienced clinicians and those new to clinical legal teaching.

    We seek a dynamic candidate who is excited about clinical legal education, restless about fighting injustice, deeply committed to the academic enterprise, able to collaborate with diverse groups inside and outside our University, and who possesses the capacity and inclination to support and advance law reform, whether through legal scholarship, direct advocacy, or a state/national leadership role.  We expect the candidate to know, or become familiar with, principles of experiential learning and clinical pedagogy.

    The faculty member will have primary responsibility for designing and then teaching and supervising students in a civil practice area at Lincoln Square Legal Services, Inc., our in-house law firm.  Typically, Fordham clinicians teach a full load when they supervise 10 students each semester in a 5-credit course that includes a regularly scheduled seminar and close supervision of student teams.  Our clinics operate during the Fall and Spring semesters.  Support for summer case coverage and/or research is available.  The faculty member may also teach other courses, depending on interest and institutional needs.

    Candidates must hold a JD or its equivalent, be members of the New York Bar, or eligible to seek membership as soon as reasonably possible after committing to join us, and have a record of achievement in law school and the profession that demonstrates the capacity to actively participate in and strengthen our academic community.

    Preferred qualifications include three years or more of practice experience, demonstrated excellence in teaching or supervision of students in a clinical legal setting, an established commitment to inclusive, reflective, transparent processes, and experience designing and implementing new programs or initiatives.

    The International Institute for Justice and the Rule of Law (IIJ) is located in Malta with a mission to deliver innovative and sustainable capacity-building through the implementation of counter-terrorism-related, rule of law-based good practices developed by the Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) and other international and regional fora.

    PROGRAMMATIC UNIT 

    The Programmatic Unit leads the design and delivery of short-form capacity-building workshops addressing specific and emerging threats and challenges in the counter-terrorism and rule of law fields. Structured under the Core Initiatives & Workstreams, the workshops build the skills and capacity criminal justice practitioners need to address the challenges they face in their daily work in an evolving terrorism landscape.  Workshop curricula are developed and tailored for our practitioners’ contexts and in line with our Monitoring & Evaluation Strategy. Through case studies and hypothetical exercises, practitioners are able to practice applying the skills they have learned, supported by the IIJ’s peer-to-peer learning environment for sustainable impact.

    PROGRAMME MANAGER 

    The Programme Manager(PM) will be an integral part of a dynamic and multi-national team. Under the overall supervision of the Executive Secretary and reporting directly to the Director of Programmes , the PM will work closely with the IIJ Executive Secretary and Director of Administration and Outreach and the rest of the IIJ team to achieve the IIJ’s mission and vision.  The main focus of this position is the programme conception, development and delivery of capacity-building workshops and other activities addressing counter-terrorism and related transnational criminal activities.

    An attractive remuneration package will be offered commensurate with the experience and qualifications of the selected applicant. The initial appointment will be made for a period of one year and may be extended subject to performance, need and the availability of funding.     JOB DESCRIPTION

    The chief responsibilities of the Programme Manager will be:

    • Planning and managing the organization, logistics, and implementation of training, workshops and other capacity-building activities, and developing action plans and tools for measuring concrete results;

    • Serving as a resource for other members of the Programmatic staff and assisting team members in managing programme resources, opportunities, time and information. 
    • Monitoring and reporting on the implementation of funded activities, and participating in the evaluation of the programmes;
    • Managing the budget for programmes within portfolio, monitoring costs against work performed and training delivered as the programme progresses. 
    • Liaising with key partners, relevant stakeholders and international experts to ensure activities are co-ordinated and the IIJ’s visibility is enhanced; 
    • Representing the IIJ externally, e.g., at international conferences, meetings, workshops, and with foreign governments and international organizations;
    • Performing other duties to support the mission of the IIJ as required.

    PERSON SPECIFICATION:

    Required

    Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in law, international relations, political science, or a related field. A minimum of six years of relevant progressively responsible experience in program management in an international-like organization, including three years of experience in the field of addressing terrorism or related transnational criminal activities within human rights and rule of law framework.

    Additional Qualifications:

    • Fluency in English, with excellent drafting and communication skills;
    • Proficiency in either French or Arabic (other language skills will be considered an asset);

    We seek a dynamic and creative educator to ensure that Columbia Law School’s externships and other field-based learning opportunities are of consistently high quality, further the Law School’s strategic vision, and respond to student interests and community needs. This is a non-faculty, administrative position.

    Columbia Law School currently offers an extensive program of externships and field-based learning opportunities designed to help students become knowledgeable, skilled, ethical, and reflective practitioners. Students enrolled in externships have the opportunity to explore the role of lawyers in variety of settings, identify their own professional goals, and learn the values and competencies that are needed in modern legal practice through well-supervised, hands-on work at public and private sector organizations and in a related seminar.  In addition to the externships offered through the program, CLS also permits students to find independent externships that must be paired with a faculty tutorial.   

    The successful candidate will report to the Vice Dean for Experiential Education

    Responsibilities

    1. Manage and further develop a robust, high-quality externship program that furthers Columbia’s pedagogical goals and meets the standards of the ABA and other regulatory bodies (70%):
      • Recruiting excellent seminar teachers and field placement supervisors;
      • Developing training programs and materials and conducting workshops to support externship seminar teachers and field placement supervisors;
      • Regularly evaluating externship seminars and field placements, including through classroom observation and site visits;
      • In consultation with the Dean and the Vice Dean for Experiential Education, developing new externship opportunities;
      • Assisting faculty members who want to explore development of a field component for their courses, and fostering connections with practitioners in the public interest, government and private sectors who might be good partners in developing and implementing a field component.
      • Advising students about externship opportunities, counseling them about the externships most likely to meet their goals, and helping them to resolve and learn from any problems that arise in the course of their externships;
      • Advising students and identifying resources to help students arrange independent externships and secure faculty supervisors;
      • Integrating LLMs into the externship program and coordinating with the Office of Graduate Programs on international student rules and other relevant concerns
      • Coordinating with Clinical faculty and staff, the Director of Legal Writing and Moot Court Programs, and instructors of other experiential offerings on recruiting, application and admission for experiential programs.
      • If desired, teaching or co-teaching the seminar portion of an externship.
    2. As part of the law school’s experiential team, work closely with the Vice Dean for Experiential Education, the Director of Legal Writing and Moot Court Programs, the clinical faculty, and other instructors of experiential offerings to offer a varied curriculum that meets the students’ needs for development of professional role and lawyering skills, and that responds to student demand. (20%)
    3. Engaging in the life of the Law School by serving on committees and task forces related to externships, participating in meetings of experiential faculty, etc. (10%)
    4. Performing additional responsibilities as required.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Law degree
    • A minimum of 7 years of legal experience, a substantial part of which includes work as an educator. Teaching experience with law students or lawyers strongly preferred.
    • Available for limited travel and evening and weekend work as required.
    • Must be able to work with diverse constituencies and support an inclusive work environment.

    Required Competencies:

    • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a complex organization.
    • Strong skills as a teacher/trainer, counselor, manager and supervisor.

    THE UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA CAREY LAW SCHOOL seeks a visiting Practice Professor for its Detkin Intellectual Property and Technology Legal Clinic (DIPTC) for its current Director who will be on sabbatical during the 2022-2023 academic year. The DIPTC is one of several clinics within the Gittis Center for Clinical Legal Studies, Penn’s endowed clinical program. The DIPTC is an important component of Penn Law’s broader intellectual property and technology offerings, coordinating with the Center for Technology, Innovation and Competition and student intellectual property affinity groups.

    The DIPTC offers students the opportunity to directly counsel clients in transactional IP and technology law. Students explore the interplay between law, business, technology, and the arts as they offer strategic counsel to early-stage ventures, technologists, scientists, and creatives. The DIPTC currently provides counsel in patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret and privacy law, and it is a member of the USPTO Law School Clinic Certification Program in trademark. The DIPTC is a semester long clinic that operates both terms. It is structured around a seminar that meets twice weekly for 1½ hours, as well as weekly supervision sessions.

    Penn Law seeks candidates with: strong transactional practice experience representing individuals and for-profit/nonprofit entities in the realm of intellectual property and/or technology law; distinguished academic and professional achievement; dynamic teaching and supervisory skills; and a commitment to clinical legal education. Candidates must be members of the Pennsylvania Bar (by the start of the visit) and have a minimum of five years of relevant practice experience.     UC BERKELEY LAW SCHOOL is hiring a Staff Attorney/Clinical Supervisor for its Consumer Justice Clinic.

    EBCLC is a non-profit legal services organization, the community-based clinical program for U.C. Berkeley Law School, and one of the Bay Area’s largest and most effective systems disrupters. With a dual service and teaching mission, EBCLC is a racial justice organization committed to building a culturally diverse workplace, centered on an internal Equity and Inclusion Roadmap that outlines the organization’s equity priorities. EBCLC is also an organized workplace, having reached its first collective bargaining agreement this summer. With about 80 staff, 150 law students a year, and a nearly $10 million annual budget, EBCLC is the largest provider of free legal services in Alameda County, providing multimodal, collaborative, and holistic legal services to over 5,000 clients annually and engaging in legislative and policy advocacy at the state and local level.

    The Consumer Justice Clinic (CJC) represents and advocates for low-income consumers in a broad range of consumer-related legal problems and helps develop explicitly racial justice focused policy solutions, while simultaneously supervising and training law students. This position requires an excellent advocate with strong writing and organizational skills who has the ability to work well in a fast-paced setting, has experience providing direct legal services to low-income people, and is committed to mentoring the next generation of legal advocates.

    Primary Responsibilities

    ·         Provide advice, counsel and limited scope representation to clients on a variety of consumer issues (i.e., debt collection defense, student loans, car fraud, consumer scams)

    • Represent clients in both debt collection defense and affirmative litigation
    • Supervise clinical law students in the performance of the above duties, including substantive law and skills training, weekly individual and group case reviews, and day-to-day monitoring 
    • Assist with monitoring cases and reporting on grant deliverables 
    • Other tasks as assigned by the Program Director

    Minimum Qualifications

    • J.D. degree required, member of the California State Bar in good standing

    Salary and Benefits

    Starting salary for this exempt position is $68,000 – $90,000 based on law school graduation date, as dictated by the EBCLC salary scale.

The CJC Staff Attorney and all EBCLC employees will continue to work remotely if California’s Shelter in Place remains in effect, and any necessary use of the office must be pre-approved. The expectation is that the Staff Attorney will work in our office in Berkeley, California when it is safe to do.     THE UNIVERSITY OF PENNSYLVANIA CAREY LAW SCHOOL, a national leader in clinical legal education for nearly 45 years, seeks to appoint a full-time faculty member to its Practice Professor track to begin July 1, 2022.

    This is a practice professor track position, which is Penn Law’s equivalent of clinical tenure track.  Practice Professors are eligible to receive research funds during the academic year and may also apply for summer financial support for scholarly research. Upon successful review, clinicians are promoted to the position of full Practice Professor and awarded five-year presumptively renewable contracts.  Both entry-level and lateral candidates are encouraged to apply to us. 

    We seek candidates from a variety of practice areas and a full range of teaching experiences. We are interested in vibrant candidates with strong practice experience, distinguished academic and professional achievement, dynamic teaching and supervisory skills, and a deep commitment to clinical legal education, teamwork, and collegiality. We seek someone who will help us build new and innovative clinics at Penn Law that are responsive to emerging professional and societal needs.     GEORGETOWN UNIVERSITY LAW CENTER is hiring a Graduate Teaching Fellow for its International Women's Human Rights Clinic.

    DESCRIPTION 

    The IWHR Clinic offers one two-year graduate fellowship every other year for individuals interested in developing their skills as advocates or future law professors. The next available fellowship will begin in the summer of 2022.

    Fellows supervise J.D. students to draft litigation papers, human rights reports, and proposed legislation for use in African and sometimes other countries and before international and regional human rights bodies. The projects are co-designed with in-country women’s human rights lawyers and seek to advance women’s rights to equality, health, education, access to justice, freedom from violence (and more) at the domestic level or before a human rights treaty body. Fellows and students travel during spring break to conduct an in-country fact-finding mission.

    Successful completion of the fellowship results in the award of an LL.M. in Advocacy from Georgetown University Law Center. Fellows are automatically enrolled in the Women’s Law and Public Policy Fellowship Program (WLPPFP) at Georgetown Law, which provides educational insights and professional development opportunities in the field of women’s rights advocacy. Fellows also take a course in Elements of Clinical Pedagogy, which is taught by Georgetown’s clinical faculty and which provides the fundamental tools for success for teaching a law clinic.

    Fellow Qualifications

    Fellows must have excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills. Fellows must have earned a J.D. from a U.S. university and be members of the D.C. bar, or take steps to apply for membership in the D.C. bar (through examination or waiver) upon being accepted for the position. At least two years of post-law school experience is required, as well as courses or experience in human rights law.
